Another Successful Week on the Hardwood for Ohio State

2022 Ohio State University

Ohio State men's basketball had a semi-successful Hawaiian vacation in the Maui Jim Maui Invitational. After losing in the first round to No. 17 San Diego State 88-77, the Buckeyes won the losers bracket with a 81-53 win over Cincinnati and a 80-73 win over No. 21 Texas Tech. The young team was impressive, and they greatly improved both their chemistry and stamina over the three day tournament.

The Ohio State Player of the Tournament was senior guard Sean McNeil, who averaged 13.3 points per game. While he did have a five-point game against Cincinnati, it was his 22-point and 13-point games against SDSU and TTU that left a good impression from the tournament. Justice Sueing is an honorable mention, as he averaged 16.6 points per game during the tournament, which included a 33-piece against the Raiders to end the tournament. Between his other two games, he had a combined 17 points and had off shooting nights.

The biggest takeaway from the tournament was this young team has plenty of talent, they can play with some of the best teams in the country, and they have a lot of potential. There's However, they must continue to develop. They lack consistency shooting the ball. Tno clear leader who is going to be the go-to guy down the stretch in big games. They also need to clean up the turnovers in big moments.

They have a few days off to recover from the tournament before they get into action once more against No. 7 Duke in Durham, North Carolina on November 30th on ESPN at 7:15 p.m. ET. Then, they will return home on December 3rd to take on St. Francis at noon on Big Ten Network.

Ohio State women's basketball continued their perfect run as they picked up another two wins and moved to No. 4 in the AP poll. They now have six wins and forced 61 turnovers this week without the nation's leading steal getter in Jacy Sheldon playing in one of the two games.

Their first win came against the McNeese Cowgirls on November 20th, as they came away with a 99-43 win behind a 14-point game by Sheldon, who also pulled in five steals. It was a great game for the ladies, as they had five players score in double-digits and shot 50% from the field as a team.

On November 23rd, the Buckeyes put together another big performance with a 105-52 win over Wright State. Rebeka Mikulasikova put together a great game with 18 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals. The Buckeyes had six ladies in double-digit scoring and shot 55.7% from the field as a team.

Through the first month of the season these ladies have looked like one of the best teams in the nation, and if they keep up the defensive onslaught and great shooting, they will make some serious noise in a top-heavy Big Ten.

On November 27th at 1 p.m. ET, they will end a three-game homestand with a matchup against North Alabama before hitting the road for a matchup against No. 10 Louisville on November 30th on the ACC Network at 7:30 p.m. ET.
