Bean ran the show as Huskies topped the Vikings 4-2

Middlefield, Ohio- On Thursday evening the LaBrae Vikings (12-2) traveled to face the Cardinal Huskies (5-4) in a Non-Conference matchup.


To start the game Owen Boone grounded to 3rd but a throwing error by Hissa would allow him to reach. Landon Brunstetter became Bean´s first of many strikeout victims. With one out and a runner on first, Dylan Simpson drew a walk but a line drive off the bat of Brogan Collins that was caught by Carter Tucker and turned into an inning ending double-play as Boone was doubled-up trying to advance. Josh Soltis would swing first for the Huskies but would groundout to short, where Simpson would field it and throw him out. The next three Huskie batters would reach. Starting off with a single by Troy Domen, double by Jake Bean advanced Domen to 3rd, followed up by an RBI single by Logan Strever. He would steal 2nd, as Carter Tucker would bring Bean across the plate on a sacrifice fly, but Austin Rowe would strikeout Austin Jones ending the inning with the Huskies leading 2-0.



Bean struck out Rowe and Dylan Swaton, with a pop-out by Aiden Doll inbetween, retiring the side. Jackson Puruczky reached on an error, a fielders choice would take him off the basepaths as Trent Mooney was safe at 1st. Chuck Soltis is safe following another error as Mooney advances all the way to 3rd. A nice heads up play by Mooney as he scores on the throw to second trying to throw out Soltis on a steal attempt. Josh would follow up with a strikeout, but Domen would bring home Soltis as he´s called safe on an error. Domen reaches third as the Viking commit yet another error, but Strever flies out to center ending the inning.



Jake would strike out a pair.An error separating the strikeouts would allow Lucas Glaser to reach, but a quick pickoff move by Bean would end the inning. Tucker and Jones both but the ball in play, but both resulting in outs, as Rowe gets Puruczky to go down swinging.


Brunstetter opened up the frame by striking out. An error and walk would put two runners on, with Simpson and 3rd and Collins at 1st, Rowe would come to bat. A passed ball would bring home Simpson as the Vikings would get on the board. Rowe and Doll both strikeout ending the top half of inning number four. Mooney´s ground out and Chuck Soltis´s line out are quickly the first two outs of the inning. Josh Soltis would single and Domen´s walk would get things brewing for the Huskies, but all for naught as Bean would fly out to right.


Swaton and Glaser become another pair of strikeouts for Bean, and Ethan Magoulick lined out as well, ending the top of the 5th. Strever flied out to center. Tucker drew a walk giving the Huskies a runner at 1st. Jones struck out swinging, but Puruczky drew the second walk of the inning for the Huskies, the inning would end on a pop-out by Mooney.


Bean opened up the frame with a strikeout of Boone, but back-to-back singles by Brunstetter and Simpson respectively would bring home the 2nd run of the game for LaBrae, cutting the Huskies four runs in half. Collins and Rowe both went down on strikes to end the frame. Chuck and Josh Soltis put the ball in play but both resulting in outs. Domen collect his 2nd base hit of the game, but on the next pitch Bean flied to right again to end the inning.


Bean´s first batter of the inning was a strikeout on three pitches. A bunt laid down by Swaton stayed in front of the plate, for Puruczky would throw him out at 1st. Magoulick would be the last out of the game, as a ground ball to third baseman Matt Hissa, and a throw to first baseman Austin Jones would end the game giving the Huskies a 4-2 victory.



Jake Bean was able to go the distance allowing 2 hits, 1 earned run, a pair of walks and 14 strikeouts.

Final Line: 7IP, 2H, 1ER, 2BB, 14K


Troy Domen went 2/3 at the plate, driving in and scoring a run. Logan Strever went 1-3 with an RBI.

Final Line:

Strever- 1/3, 1RBI


Austin Rowe suffered the loss going 5 Innings, giving up 4 hits, 2 earned runs with 3 walks and 4 strikeouts

Final Line: 5IP, 4H, 4R, 2ER, 3BB, 4SO


Landon Brunstetter went 1/3 with a run scored and Dylan Simpson was 1/2 with a run scored and RBI and walk.
