Bombers Blank Royals 8-0 in Regional Semi-Final Action


Canton, OH- The Defending State Champion Kenston Bombers continued on their journey for a repeat Thursday evening at Thurman Munson Stadium in Canton. In their way on this sun splashed evening was Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy, better known as CVCA.


The scoring got started in the top of the 3rd when University of Akron commit and Senior LA Mighton ripped a screamer past the 3rd baseman to plate Jack Latz.


The Royals had no answer for right handed hurler and Ohio University commit Jimmy Cerha on the afternoon, Cerha blanked the Royals while amassing 8 strikeouts.



In the 5th inning, it was Mighton once again sent a shot to left. This time it was a deep fly ball that went over the outstretched arm of the left fielder that resulted in an RBI double, again bringing Latz across to score.



In the 6th, the Bombers added to their lead on a throwing error by the catcher who was trying to throw behind the runner on 1st. The ball trickled down the right field line allowing Kenston to score from 2nd.



In the bottom of the 6th, Cerha was aided by the slick fielding of short stop Grady Flynn who barehanded a deflected ball off the leg of Cerha to get the runner at 1st to end the inning.



The Bombers parlayed the web gem into a big 7th inning, plating 5 runs to blow the game wide open. Cerha continued his dominance in the bottom of the 7th, putting the Bombers one step closer to defending their crown.



Kenston will play West Branch in the Regional Final Friday at Thurman Munson at 5:00 pm. Believeland Media will have all of the coverage.
