Browns still have a path to an AFC North title

Despite back to back losses to the Las Vegas Raiders and Green Bay Packers that dropped them to 7-8 on the season, the Browns can still win the AFC North division.

The Browns had a golden opportunity to take control of the AFC North division these past two weeks but suffered two last minute disappointing losses that dropped them under .500 with only two games remaining. Fortunately for Cleveland the rest of the division teams have also struggled.

Here are the current AFC North Division standings:

Cincinnati Bengals 9-6

Baltimore Ravens 8-7

Pittsburgh Steelers 7-7-1

Cleveland Browns 7-8

If the Browns win out and get a little help it is possible for them to finish with a 9-8 record and be division champs. Here is the scenario:

Cincinnati loses to the Kansas City Chiefs next Sunday

Baltimore loses to the Los Angeles Rams next Sunday

Cleveland defeats Pittsburgh next Monday night

If this scenario plays out it would setup the Cincinnati at Cleveland matchup in Week 18 as the showdown for the AFC North title and a first round home playoff game. If the Browns were to win this scenario both teams would be 9-8 but the Browns would own the tiebreaker due to head-to-head matchup.

The Browns will certainly need to play much better to close out the regular season than they have of late and hope for a little help on the way.
