Chagrin Falls holds off Beachwood’s late push to win 67-57

Chagrin Falls, OH- The Chagrin Falls Tigers (1-0) hosted the Beachwood Bison (1-0) in a Chagrin Valley conference matchup this afternoon.



The Bison started the game strong jumping out the an early 8-6 lead after the first quarter. That would be their only lead of the game.


In the second quarter, the Tigers ramped up their intensity on both ends of the floor behind four three point shots from senior guard Will Rossi and senior toward James Kosmides protecting the inside with a big time block. The Tigers out scored the Bison 21-12 to take a 27-20 halftime lead. Rossi led all scorers with 14 points.



In the third quarter, the Tigers kept their foot on the gas. They started the quarter on a 20-0 run behind the strong scoring quarters from Tigers sophomore forward Ryan Curtiss and senior guard Max Crandall. The two combined for 16 of the team's 25 third quarter points. Bison guard Nate Lurie made a layup with 1:24 left in the quarter to stop the bleeding from the Tigers run. The Tigers would go on to lead 52-26 in the end of the third.



"I couldn't have been more proud with how we played the first three quarters." said Tigers coach Dave Bargar in a postgame interview. "We couldn't have played much better than we did in the first half"


The Bison fought back with a strong fourth quarter. They found life early in the quarter from a strong 8-0 run behind back-to-back three pointers from Lurie and senior forward Noah Page as well as a layup from Page. The Bison would continue to make things interesting late in the game trimming their once large deficit to as low as 8 points with 30 seconds left. The Tigers would not let the game slip away as kept the pressure defensively and knocked down late game foul shots to secure the victory 67-57.


Noah Page led all scorers with 23 points. Will Rossi led the Tigers with 19 points. Chagrin Falls remain perfect on the season at 2-0 while Beachwood moves to 1-1.
