Colombi's hat-trick and Hilltoppers suffocating defense lead to 42-0 shutout of CVCA

Chardon OH- What else is new, a Chardon Hilltopper playoff game in week 11. The host Hilltoppers come into week 11 winners of their last 4 finishing with a record of 7-3 (2nd in WRC) as they hosted the #10 seed 8-2 CVCA Blue Royals at Chardon Memorial Stadium. Winner moves on to play the winner of Geneva-Hawken.

The Hilltopper defense has been astounding all season being lead by LBs Austin Green and Alexander Ash, and a stout defensive line with Maddex Ciancibello, Austin Lyszenski and Logan Bryant. As far as the secondary and OLBs go, Leo Colombi and AJ Bruce shined all season, leading the team in PBUs and INTs. The outside linebacker core has been lead by Kenny Friihauf and Beckett Dotson up to this point of the year. But the Hilltopper offense had often times struggled in the area of penalties. Not only did the defense dominate, holding CVCA to under 50 total yards of offense, Chardon was only penalized twice for a total of 25 yards. Something that's going to be key for the Hilltoppers moving forward as final scores are official, Chardon will face the Geneva Eagles at Spire Insitute next Friday night at 7.
