In 2022 the Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy Royals baseball team had a record season, going undefeated in their conference after 12 games and only dropping a total of three games on the season finishing 25-3.
The team was above the national average in every single category, except grand slams, which goes to show how powerful this team was.
Things were looking great heading into the playoffs for the Royals, but unfortunately for them they suffered a heartbreaking 5-2 loss against Cloverfield at home.
Even though their season didn't end the way they were hoping in 2022, the team has high hopes for this upcoming 2023 season.
They have 15 freshman ready to play baseball for CVCA. After four team leaders graduated, they have two returning seniors who have stepped into leadership roles for the team in Trevor Vojtkofsky and Otto Rogers.
Vojtkofsky, who plays catcher, led the team in home runs with five and tied the team for second in stolen bases with 10 while also leading the team in runs batted in with 43.
Having 15 freshman might be a sign of inexperience for some people, but the Royals are very optimistic that many, if not most of them can end up on the varsity roster.
Rogers, Vojtkofsky, and coach Jason Herblet are very optimistic about the season ahead of them. I had the chance to visit practice and talk to all three of them about their upcoming season.
