Falcons to Division III title game for third time in five years after 65-44 win over Harvest Prep

DAYTON, Ohio- Lutheran East freshman TJ Crumble dominated the second quarter for the Falcons with 10 of his game high 23 points leading them to back to familiar territory.

"It's feels good to be back," Falcons head coach Sam Liggins said postgame. "To be in this same position last year and lose, then get back here and be successful, it's a beautiful feeling."

The Falcons were tested early by Harvest Prep sophomore guard Brandon Roddy who scored 10 of his team high 17 points in the quarter. Roddy outscored the Falcons 10-5 before Crumble inserted himself with back-to-back layups. The Warriors took a 15-12 lead after the first.

Roddy opened the second with a layup off a steal and assists from Alan Chiles. Crumble's second quarter dominance then starter with layups on three consecutive possessions. The Falcons finished the quarter with an 11-1 run over the last 3:18 to take a commanding 29-20 into the half.

"They (Harvest Prep) are very quick with the smaller guards they have. They're scrappy and we were playing into it at first. In the second, we took our time and found the open baskets because of our size to be able to take over the game the way we did." Liggins said about the second quarter takeover.

The Falcons continued their dominance into the third outscoring the Warriors 19-6 behind a huge windmill dunk for Cody Head and a corner triple from the big man McCulloch blowing the game out of reach with a 48-26 lead to secure their win.

McCulloch finished with a double double of 11 points and 12 rebounds. Head added 13 points and four assists.

The Falcons move on looking to hoist their second title in three years as they will face the Ottawa-Glandorf Titans Sunday at 5:15 p.m.
