The American League defeated the National League 5-3 in Tuesday night's MLB All-Star Game from Global Life Field.

The National League took an early 3-0 lead over the American League in the top of the third inning on Shohei Otani's three run home run.

However, the American League came right back in the bottom of the third inning with three runs of their own to tie the game at 3-3.

Jarren Duran then put the American League ahead 5-3 in the bottom of the fifth inning with a two run home run.

In the post-game press conference, Duran talked about his game-winning home run.

Well, I knew he threw really hard so I was just praying he would throw me a first pitch fastball so I could see how hard it was," said Duran.
"After that, I was hoping to get a pitch up. He happened to leave a pitch up. I happened to put a good swing on it.

After Duran's home run, both teams were held scoreless for the rest of the game.

For Cleveland Guardians fans, the big hit of the night came in the bottom of third inning. Guardians utility player, David Fry, pinch hit for the American League.

On a 3-2 pitch, Fry tied the game at 3-3 with a line drive single to left field.

For the game, Fry was 1-2 with an RBI.

In addition to Fry's game-tying RBI, the Guardians closer, Emmanuel Clase pitched a scoreless ninth inning to earn the save for the American League.

The MVP for the all-star game was Jarren Duran from the Boston Red Sox.

After the game, Duran expressed his excitement about being named the 2024 MVP of the All-Star Game.

"I mean, All-Star Game, first home run All-Star Game MVP, it is a first," said Duran.
"And I'm just very thankful. It's hard to put into words. It won't hit me until I try to go to sleep tonight. Who knows if I'll be able to sleep tonight.

The Guardians will be back in action at Progressive Field on Friday, July 19th as they start a three game series with the San Diego Padres.
