Highland dominates Aurora 34-0 to clinch Suburban League Title

AURORA, Ohio- The Highland Hornets are your 2024 Suburban League Champions! Last year Highland suffered a devastating loss to Aurora, but were able to flip the script entirely this time around.

From the very first touchdown to the very last, Highland dominated. The Hornets added this 34-0 victory to their streak of nine straight running clock victories.

“I mean when we prepare a lot and we’ve been practicing all year all off-season with coach and everything else that will be going through so we just keep practicing. We prepare ourselves and help us get ready for games like these tough games Aurora is a really good team. We knew that coming in so we knew that it was gonna be a hard game to get done but we’re glad we got the job finished,” said Josh Arvanetes post game.

“I mean it feels great. You know this is what we worked for and we finally got it. We played so hard and we finally achieved one of our goals. Now it’s time for the playoffs,” said Carson Noonan post game.

Today the Hornets showed how deep their team is. Everyone came to play today dominating every second of this one. Early on Highland ran Lucas Gerding out of the backfield and scored. Shortly after the next drive Dylan Borla connected on a touchdown pass too Evan Foust.

Highland’s defense wouldn’t let up all game and only allowed one red zone trip for the Greenmen. Garrett Phillips later on in the game picked off a pass. Casey Myser then ran the ball down the field 60 yards to set up a Phillips rushing touchdown.

Once again Myser had over 100 yards and a scored two touchdowns continuously dominating opposing defenses week after week.

Highland will find out who their first round opponent is Saturday and where they sit in the playoffs after an impressive 10-0 regular season. Aurora still remains one of the best D3 teams sitting at 9-1.
