Major League Baseball (MLB) hosted the T-Mobile Home Run Derby on Monday night at Global Life Field, home of the Texas Rangers.

Guardian's third baseman, Jose Ramirez, competed in the event with seven other other MLB players.

The additional MLB players who participated included Pete Alonso (New York Mets), Alec Bohm ( Philadelphia Phillies), Adolis Garcia (Texas Rangers), Gunnar Henderson (Baltimore Orioles), Teoscar Hernandez (Los Angeles Dodgers), and Marcell Ozuna (Atlanta Braves).

In order for Ramirez to advance to the semifinals, he had to be in the top four after all eight players had a chance to participate in the Home Run Derby.

Ramirez did just that as he advanced to the semifinals with 21 home runs.

However, Ramirez was defeated in the semifinal round by Witt jr., 17-12.

Ramirez had a great first round as he tied Bohm for the most home runs with 21.

In the first round, Ramirez was thrown 40 pitches over three minutes. Ramirez then had the opportunity to hit in the bonus round.

After hitting 10 home runs before calling timeout with 1:25 left in the first round, Ramirez added five home runs before the bonus round.

In the bonus round, Ramirez added six additional home runs.

Winning the T-Mobile Home Run Derby was Teoscar Hernandez from the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Hernandez defeated Witt jr., 14-13 in the finals of the T-Mobile Home Run Derby.

The finals came down to the last pitch when Witt jr. just missed hitting the pitch over the fence for a home run to tie Hernandez.

After winnin the T-Mobile Home Run Derby, Hernandez talked about that last hit by Witt jr. which hit the fence.

"Oh, man. I was nervous," said Hernandez.
"Not when I see that ball. The last one. When he still got two outs and one homer to tie with me. And then the last shot that he got, he was a little, like, too close to tie."
"But thank God it didn't went out. So super happy."

Hernandez also talked about the tips he received for the Home Run Derby from fellow teammate Shohei Ohtani.

"He said to hit the ball to left center, to not pull it, because I had a better chance because of the way my swing was to go over there," said Hernandez.
"It's far, but he said it's better for you."

Ramirez will now compete in Tuesday night's MLB All-Star Game along with four other Guardians including Emmanuel Clase, David Fry, Steven Kwan, and Josh Naylor.

Tonight's all-star game can be seen on Fox at 8pm EST.
