Kenston takes down the Lady G-MEN 9-5



Garrettsville, OH- It was a great evening for a ballgame with a game time temperature of 80 degrees and a blue sunny sky as the Lady G-MEN welcomed in the Kenston Bombers. Lizzy Moore was on the mound for Garfield facing off against the Bombers Devan McCabe.


After a scoreless top of the first, the G-MEN got on the board in the bottom half as lead-off hitter Kyndall Hahn reached on an infield single and later scored on a ground out by Moore. Garfield led 1-0 after one.


Moore pitched another scoreless inning in the top of the 2nd. Garfield was able to tack on another run in the bottom of the 2nd. Gabriel Groves led off with a single and was moved to second base on a nice sacrifice bunt executed by Kolby Fresch. Groves reached third on a groundout by CC Porter and scored on a wild pitch to make it 2-0 heading to the 3rd inning.


Lizzy Moore continued to hold the Bombers at bay with a 1-2-3 scoreless 3rd. Garfield was also held scoreless in the 3rd. After getting the first two batters on base via a single and hit by pitch, Devan McCabe was able to retire the next three in a row including a strikeout of Groves to end the threat.



Kenston was finally able to get to Moore in the top of the 4th with some help from the G-MEN defense. With two outs Colette LaSalvia ripped her second double of the game. An infield pop up by McCabe was dropped allowing Lasalvia to score their first run of the game. Moore struck out Katie Lustig to end the inning. Garfield was held scoreless in the bottom half as McCabe struck out three.


The 5th inning was the turning point in this game as Kenston put up 6 runs aided by two Garfield throwing errors. Sophia Castellone, Angela Kale and Lustig all came through with run scoring singles in the big inning. Garfield was able to get one back on an inside the park homerun by Kyndall Hahn. Kenston led 7-3 after five.


The Bombers tacked on two more in the top of the 6th after a 2-run single by McCabe. Garfield was able to score two in the bottom of the 7th on a 2-run double by Kolby Fresch, but fell short in their comeback attempt 9-5.



Kenston was led by Colette Lasalvia who was 3/4 with a pair of doubles and 2 RBI. Devan McCabe helped her own cause with 2 hits and 3 RBI. On the mound she went the distance striking out 8.


Kyndall Hahn was 3/4 for Garfield with that inside the park HR and a stolen base.
