Loving the Levert addition

As the Cavs tipped off against the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday night at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse there was an electricity in the city and in the arena due to the much anticipated debut of Caris LeVert, an Ohio native. He’s back in his home state!

Levert has played for the Brooklyn Nets and most recently the Indiana Pacers but Indiana is in a rebuild mode and have a young wing in Chris Duarte which made him expendable. Even so I found it very surprising that they wanted to trade him because he's only 27 years old and was averaging 18.7 points per game on 43% shooting which is a nice building block to me! The Cavs jumped at the opportunity to add another young piece to the core and the biggest plus to me is LeVert will take some of the scoring load off of Darius Garland and the offense won’t be stagnant when Garland takes a breather since we now have an additional ball handler.

In my opinion LeVert got unfairly criticized in Indy by fans and media for draining the offense and being selfish which I think was unfair because he was the number one option there. In Cleveland he can fit in quickly and let the game come to him. This team is far from selfish and it seems to be a different guy that steps up every night so we’re going to get “LeVert days” for sure! Caris has said he doesn’t mind coming off the bench or starting and that’s buying into the culture already! Caris definitely raises expectations and excitement all throughout the 216!
