Lugnuts Defeat Captains, 10-4, on Sunday Afternoon

It was a cold Sunday afternoon for baseball as the Lake County Captains took on the Lugnuts in the final game of their six game series.

After the two teams were tied at 4-4 after five innings, the Lugnuts scored five runs in the top of the sixth inning to go up 9-4.  


The Lugnuts added a run in the 8th inning to make the final score 10-4.


The Lugnuts got on the scoreboard first in the first inning when Henry Bolte doubled to drive in the first run of the game for the Lugnuts.


The Captains then tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the fourth inning.  


The Captains scored when center fielder Jonah Advincula hit a sacrifice fly to right field to drive in Maick Callado from third base.


After the Lugnuts scored three runs in the top of the fifth, the Captains came back with three runs of their own in the fifth inning.


The Captains scored their first two runs of the fifth inning when Jake Fox hit a two run home run.

The Captains then made the score 4-4 wheMackick Collado singled on a line drive to right field to drive in Jose Devers.


With the score tied 4-4 in the top of the sixth, the Captains gave up five runs.


The Lugnuts scored their first of five, sixth inning runs, on a bases loaded walk to Bolte to make the score 5-4.


The Lugnuts scored two more runs in the fifth when Jonny Butler hit a ground rule double.


With the score 7-4, Bolte then scored on a wild pitch as the Lugnuts went up 8-4.


The Lugnuts then scored the final run of the inning when Danny Bautista jr. singled to center field to make the score 9-4.


Bautista jr. also drove in the final run of the game for the Lugnuts in the top of the eighth with an RBI double to make the final score 10-4.


After a day off on Monday, the Captains will now travel to Michigan for a six game series against the West Michigan Whitecaps.
