Columbus, OH - Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy Royals took on the Lutheran East Falcons in the fourth game of the annual Ohio Play By Play Classic in Nationwide Arena.
The Royals got off to a good start winning the tip off and scoring a three pointer from the the jump, but the flame didn't burn long.
Lutheran East started to heat up right after as Jesse McCulloch and Cody Head hit back to back three pointers and just kept their offense rolling the entire quarter scoring 16 ending the first leading 16-7.
Starting the second quarter the Royals are looking to comeback and close their deficit, and they started too as Darryn Peterson hit a three right away closing the gap but the Royal's defense wasn't able to stop the high flying Falcons of Lutheran East.
The Falcons on the backs of TJ Crumble and McCulloch with each being bruisers in the paint and Cody Head scoring whenever he gets the ball keeping the game out of reach for the Royals 31-19 at the half.
The Royals starting the second half are looking to get their offense rolling, while the Falcons were looking to continue to build on their 12 point lead.
CVCA looked to chip away at this huge deficit they had to overcome and it's started with Darryn Peterson who was knocking down everything he shot as the team was able to put up 16 in the third.
The Falcons didn't slow down at all continuing to score at will, this time led by Crumble and Cody Head as the team was scoring almost every time they had the ball. They put up 18 in the third extending their lead to 49-35 at the end of the quarter.
Entering the final quarter, CVCA was looking to make something magical happen. Darryn Peterson was sinking everything he shot and distributing the ball around trying hard to keep his team in the game while they put up 16 points trying to climb back in it.
Lutheran East had other plans as Jesse McCulloch, TJ Crumble, and Cody Head just kept the offense rolling, but more importantly didn't let a comeback happen and played phenomenal defense taking home 62-51 victory.
Player of the game for Lutheran East was Jesse McCulloch with 22 points, 11 rebounds and 2 blocks leading his team to victory.
Player of the game for CVCA was Darryn Peterson as he scored 28 points with 7 rebounds and 3 blocks.
