The Cleveland Guardians have two prospects taking part in tonight's Arizona Fall League All-Star game at 7:00 PM ET on MLB Network. Outfielder Richie Palacios and infielder Jose Tena will be suiting up for the East Division squad.
Palacios has appeared in 18 games for the Scottsdale Scorpions in the AFL. He is currently batting .264 with 6 2B's, 1 3B, 3 HR's, 11 RBI's, 10 BB, 4 SB and an .869 OPS. After playing the majority of the regular season at second base, Palacios has been used strictly as an outfielder in the AFL logging 11 games in left field and eight in centerfield. He did make 15 appearances in the outfield during the regular season with AA Akron and AAA Columbus. The 24-year old Palacios had an impressive regular season split between AA and AAA. In 103 games he hit a combined .297 with 33 2B's, 4 3B's 7 HR's, 48 RBI's, 58 BB, 20 SB and an .874 OPS. Palacios will look to break in to the majors in 2022.

Jose Tena has appeared in 14 games with the Scottsdale Scorpions in the AFL. He is currently batting an impressive .415 with 5 2B's, 7 RBI's, 9 BB, .500 OBP, .509 SLG and a sparkling 1.009 OPS. The 20-year old middle infield prospect appeared in 107 games at the High A level this season batting .281 with 25 2B's, 2 3B's, 16 HR's, 58 RBI's, 27 BB, 10 SB's, .467 SLG and a .798 OPS. The power surge in 2021 came after Tena had hit only two home runs in 95 career minor league games during the 2018 & 2019 seasons. While he has logged most of his time at shortstop in both the regular season and AFL, Tena has also made 20 starts and second base and 14 at third base. After his impressive regular season that has carried over to Arizona, Tena has put himself on the radar as an up and coming prospect in the Guardians organization.
