Alliance, OH - On paper, the Tuesday night showdown between Warren G. Harding Raiders and Alliance Aviators looked to be one that would be back and forth for much of the night. Unfortunately for the host Aviators, the Raiders came in about as hot as you can be.
The opening quarter saw Senior Guard Davion Herron come out scoring at a rapid pace, netting 10 in the opening frame. The 2nd quarter belonged to Sophomore guard Motgomery "Gummy" Hart, who added three triples in the quarter bringing his total for the opening half to four from downtown. The Raiders held a 42-20 advantage at the half, with Herron leading all scorers with 13. Alliance was led at the half by Junior Guard JR Jackson, who had 10.
The 3rd quarter saw Junior Myles Miller take the charge on offense, scoring 7 in the quarter as the Raiders lead extended to 58-33. With the game in hand, both coaches emptied their benches as the 4th quarter went along, with the final score being 71-51. The Aviators were led by JR Jackson with a game high 18.
On the night, the Raiders had 5 players in double figures, led by Herron's 17. Also ending the night in double figures was Senior Chaz Coleman with 12, including a few monstrous dunks, Junior Xavier Clark with 12 on a balanced night scoring at least 2 in each frame. Miller ended the night with 15 after his 3rd quarter performance and 'Gummy' Hart rounded out the double figure scorers with 12, all from beyond the arc.
The win moves the Raiders to 4-1 on the year, while the loss drops the Aviators to 3-2.
