RubberDucks' Home Run Barrage Not Enough to Overcome Baysox in 6-5 Loss

The Akron RubberDucks started a six games series with the Bowie Baysox, the Double A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, on Tuesday afternoon at Canal Park.



The start of the six game series with the Baysox began with both teams being held scoreless through the first four innings.


However, the Baysox took a 2-0 lead in the top of the fifth inning.





A Milan Tolentino solo home run in the bottom of the fifth brought the RubberDucks back to within one run, at 2-1.

The RubberDucks then took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the sixth inning on back to back solo home runs by Petey Halpin and Alexfri Planez.

After both teams were held scoreless in the seventh inning, the Baysox plated four runs in the top of the eighth inning to take a 6-3 lead over the RubberDucks.


But the RubberDucks did not quit.


In the bottom of the eighth, Yordys Valdes hit a two run home run to bring the RubberDucks to within one run at 6-5.

Both teams were held scoreless in the 9th as the Baysox went on to defeat the RubberDucks, 6-5.


With the loss, the RubberDucks move to 15-7 in the second half, and 52-39 on the season.

For the contest, the RubberDucks pitching staff struckout 15 Baysox batters throughout the game. Leading the RubberDucks with six strikeouts was Aaron Davenport.


The RubberDucks had five hits on the day, with four of the five hits being home runs.


The RubberDucks return to the diamond on Wednesday night for the second game of the six game series against the Baysox.


First pitch is scheduled for 6:35pm.
