Streetsboro dominates Field 49-0 to clinch MAC Title

Brimfield, OH- Kenneth Lohr Stadium was the scene for the Metro Athletic Conference Championship showdown between the undefeated Streetsboro Rockets and one loss Field Falcons on Senior night. Streetsboro was coming off of a 45-14 home win over Ravenna in Week 8 while the Falcons took care of business at home against Cloverleaf 37-10.


The Rockets received the ball to start this one and it didn't take long for their potent running attack to move into action. On the 7th play of the drive, Marcus Council broke free for a 53 yard run down to the Falcons 2-yard line. From there QB Cohen Klimak took it in for the opening score. The PAT gave the Rockets a 7-0 lead just under four minutes in.



The Falcons would fumble the ensuing kickoff giving the ball back to the Rockets at their 18-yard line setting up another Klimak score on the fourth play, this one from four yards out. Another PAT made it a quick 14-0 Streetsboro lead with 6:57 to play 1st quarter.



Field was able to move the ball into Rockets territory on their next possession. Unfortunately for them they opened the 2nd quarter with a snap over the head of QB Peyton Anderson on 3rd and 6 pushing them back 18 yards setting up 4th and 24. An incomplete pass on 4th down turned it back over to the Rockets.



After a 20 yard Klimak run on the first play, the Field defense forced the Rockets to punt. The Rockets then came up with a big defensive play on 3rd and 11 as big Streetsboro tackle Arthur Scott sacked Anderson forcing a Falcon punt. The Rockets would score again on their next possession as Janiere Cook carried the ball three times for 44 yards on the drive including an 18 yard touchdown run to cap it off. The PAT gave the Rockets a 21-0 lead with just under 6:00 to play in the half.


After another Field punt, Klimak hit Manny Gibson wide open down the sideline for a 68 yard touchdown on the 4th play of the drive. The PAT increased their lead to 28-0.


Field would try to get points on the board with 1:24 left before halftime. Unfortunately for them it ended in disaster as Anderson was picked off by Klimak who returned it 45 yards for a touchdown. The PAT gave us our halftime score of 35-0 in favor of the Rockets.


The second half saw a running clock to start the third quarter with Streetsboro up by 30+ points. The Rockets would get a pair of second half touchdowns. A 53 yard touchdown run my Klimak in the 3rd quarter made it 42-0. They would close it out with a 9 yard touchdown run in the 4th quarter by Manny Gibson. Their 7th successful PAT of the night made it 49-0.



That ended up as the final score in what was a total domination on both sides of the ball by the Rockets.


Cohen Klimak led the way rushing for 123 yards on 12 carries and 2 touchdowns. He also completed a 68 yard touchdown pass and returned an interception for a touchdown giving him 4 total on the night. Manny Gibson had 120 total yards and 2 touchdowns. He also came up with a 4th quarter interception on defense. That stout Rockets defense held Falcons standout Drexal McAmis to 38 yards rushing.


Streetsboro wraps up the regular season next Friday at Cloverleaf while the Falcons look to rebound at Portage Community Bank Stadium against the Ravens.
