Streetsboro Lady Rockets blow past Ravenna 55-13 behind Benson's double/double

Ravenna, OH- The Streetsboro Rockets headed into Ravenna on Thursday night looking for their fourth straight win. The Lady Rockets came in with an 8-3 record while the Ravens were 3-9 looking to snap a 3-game losing streak.



Streetsboro got off to a hot start going on a 10-0 run to start the game with 5 of those points coming from freshman forward Carlee Bedford. After a timeout by Ravens coach Courtney O'Donnell, the Rockets ran off the next 15 straight to take a 25-0 lead as sophomore standout center Naomi Benson went to work scoring 9 points in that span. Ravenna finally got on the board with 1:40 to play in the first quarter on a bucket by Jaylynn Walker. The Rockets had a 27-2 lead after one. Benson racked up 9 points and 8 rebounds.



The second quarter was more of the same as Streetsboro continued to impose their will outscoring the Ravens 14-1 with the lone Ravenna point coming on a Kyla Carney free throw. Reanne Barzal was solid inside for the Rockets in quarter two with 6 points. It was a 41-3 Streetsboro lead at the half.



The Rockets scored the first 8 points of the second half extending their lead to 49-3. Benson scored 6 straight points before checking out for the night. Mary Laudato stopped the scoring run for Ravenna with a pair of free throws. The lead for Streetsboro after three was 51-5.


The fourth quarter saw a lot of playing time for the underclassmen. The Ravens were able to come up with some offense as they outscored the Rockets 8-4 in the final frame to make the final 55-13 in favor of Streetsboro.


Naomi Benson was a beast inside dropping in 19 points to go along with 16 rebounds and 5 steals in about 2-1/2 quarters of play. Reanne Barzal chipped in 8 points while Carlee Bedford and Olivia Johnson-Wilson had 6 a piece.
