And Wednesday night's contest was very similar to the Red Devils first meeting with the Hornets which Crestwood won 39-38 on December 15.

This time, on Wednesday night in a hard fought intense defensive battle, the Red Devils defeated the Hornets, 36-32.
“It was a really hard fought (game),” said Head Girls Basketball Coach TJ Henderson.
“It was going to be, who could make a little bit more of a run on the free throw line, and who could make a few extra stops here or there."
“The girls did a fantastic job rotating, getting deflections when they could, and being strong and getting steals today. It was a great job by all of them.”
Crestwood's leading scorer, junior Hannah Ward, in the post-game interview mentioned the importance of the Red Devils starting the game quickly on the offensive side of the court.
“It was a big win, just going in, we knew Kirtland was going to put up a fight," said Ward.
"Last time we came out a little weak, and got down quite a bit. So today we just made sure we came out strong and continued that through the whole game.”
As Ward mentioned, the Red Devils started strong as they took a 21-16 lead heading into halftime.
In the third quarter, the Red Devils and Hornets both scored six points as it was difficult for both teams to find open non-contested shots.
Although the Hornets made a run in the fourth quarter and got to within three points, the Red Devils defense was able to foil the Hornets comeback attempt.
For the game, the Red Devils were led by Hannah Ward who had nine points.
Also contributing to the offensive point total for Crestwood was Livia Martini (7 points), Madison Dustman (6), Grace Harper (6), Rebecca Brady (5), Maddie Gonczy (2), Kaitlyn Huffman (2).
With the conference victory, the Red Devils have now won three games in a row and move to 6-3 in the CVC Valley Division.
The Red Devils will next take the floor again at 11:45am on Saturday when they face Mogadore.
