Beloit, OH- It was a Saturday Night Special at West Branch (4-0) Saturday evening as the Carrollton Warriors (4-0) paid a visit. Originally scheduled for the traditional early afternoon time slot, the game was moved to a 6:45 start to allow West Branch Head Coach Walt DeShields a chance to attend the Mount Union playoff game that kicked off at noon. DeShields son TJ, a former Warrior, is quarterbacking the Raiders as they continue their march to the Stagg Bowl.
As for the tilt between the two EBC Warriors, it was the host West Branch that came out of the gate firing, leading 8-0 after the games first 8 minutes. The 2nd quarter featured much more offense for both sides, as Carrollton tallied 12 and West Branch tacked on 17 in the period. At the half, West Branch was led by Sophomore Guard Audrey Eaton who nailed three shots from beyond the arc for 9. Carrollton was led by Junior Forward Kamryn Shaw with 4.
Sophomore Guard Audrey Eaton (24) brings the ball across the timeline.
No matter what Carrollton tried, they just couldn't string together enough offense to close the gap, as West Branch extended their lead to 37-20 by the end of the 3rd quarter. West Branch used their commanding lead to take the air out of the ball in the final frame, only scoring 5 as they effectively had Carrollton chasing the ball much of the quarter.
On the night, it was Eaton leading the way with 16, as she collected two successful 'and ones' in the 3rd quarter. For Carrollton, it was Kamryn Shaw leading the way with 11.
