CUYAHOGA FALLS, Ohio- The Streetsboro Rockets traveled to Woodridge high school to take on the Bulldogs. Woodridge came into this game looking to rebound after an ugly loss to Cloverleaf Tuesday evening. The Bulldogs put on a show for the home crowd. The night was highlighted by Blake Williams' 14 points and Charlie Lambes’ block party.
“One crap night you can’t really dig into your guys about that. We had a 30 minute chat yesterday at practice about what we weren’t and the Boys came out today and rebounded great. I thought the first 3-4 minutes were pretty raggedy but from there they fixed it and came out with the win,” said coach Rick Blevins.
Woodridge played a great game from start to finish. The Bulldogs took advantage of their size and bullied the Rockets in the paint. The Bulldogs forced Streetsboro to take lots of shots from deep. The Rockets nailed nine threes on the night.
Early on the Rockets came out fast taking a 10-4 lead. The Bulldogs would fight back and make the game closer only being down by three at the end of the first. Woodridge would come out fast in the second quarter and keep the lead going forward into halftime. The Bulldogs never looked back from there holding onto the lead the rest of the game.
Woodridge led by as much as 16 at one point. Streetsboro tried to make a last minute push late in the fourth quarter going on a 10-0 run at one point but it wasn't enough.
“Last couple nights have kind of been a lack of energy and you know tonight we had energy and came out and just had fun. We played together and had great ball movement, our defense was stellar. Charlie anchored us down in the paint with a few huge blocks. Nights like tonight are what we need to do going forward," said Evan Duve
