The Lake County Captains scored first on Wednesday morning as they took a 1-0 lead over the Lugnuts in the bottom of the second inning.
After the Lugnuts tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the fourth, the Captains added four additional runs in the bottom of the fourth and fifth innings to take a 5-1 lead.
The Lugnuts added a run in the top of the sixth to make the final score 5-2.
The Captains scored first in the bottom of the second on Wednesday morning when Tyresse Turner singled to drive in Jonah Advincula from third base.

After the Lugnuts tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the fourth, Angel Zarate hit a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth to give the Captains a 2-1 lead.Â

The Captains added an additional run in the fourth inning when Johnny Tincher singled to drive in a run and make the score 3-1.

The Captains scored their final two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning when Jorge Borgos hit a two run home run over the right field fence to make the score 5-1.

Offensively, for the game, the Captains were led by Zarate (2-4, HR, and 1 RBI), Turner (2-4, RBI), Tincher (2-4, RBI), and Isaiah Greene (2-2).
Picking up the victory on the mound for the Captains was Rorick Maltrud who threw six innings, giving up only two runs on seven hits.

In addition, earning the save for the Captains was Magnus Ellerts who pitched a scoreless ninth inning to earn his tenth save of the season.
With the victory, the Captains move to 51-31 on the season.
The Captains return to the diamond at Classic Auto Group Park on Thursday night as they host the Lansing Lugnuts in the third game of their sixth game series.
