Lake County Captains Split First Two Games of Series With TinCaps

The Lake County Captains returned home on Tuesday night for a six game series with the Fort Wayne Tincaps.

In the first game of the series, on Tuesday night, the Captains were involved in a classic pitcher's duel with only one run being scored.


The Captains manufactured a run in the bottom of the seventh inning as they went on to defeat the TinCaps, 1-0.


Just hours later, the Captains hosted the TinCaps on Wednesday afternoon.  In another low scoring game, the TinCaps defeated the Captains, 3-1.

In Tuesday night's victory, the Captains got their only run when Jose Devers went yard on an 0-2 count with two outs in the bottom of the 7th inning.


Devers home run was his 5th of the season.


In addition to Devers home run, the Captains got excellent pitching.  


Pitching the first 5.2 innings was Austin Peterson who only gave up 4 hits and struck out 6.

Relieving Peterson was Jake Miller who threw 1.1 innings of scoreless baseball.


Pitching a scoreless 8th inning for the Captains was former Harvard baseball player, Jay Driver.


Closing out the game in the 9th inning for the Captains on Tuesday night was Zane Morehouse who got his 5th save of the season.


In Wednesday afternoon's Captains game, the TinCaps took an early 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning. They then added a run in the top of the 4th to make the score 3-0.


The Captains scored their only run of Wednesday afternoon's game in the seventh inning on a bases loaded walk to Zac Fascia.


The Captains play their third game of the six game series with the TinCaps on Thursday night.


First pitch is scheduled for 7pm
