O'Ward Wins Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio Presented by The 2025 Civic Hybrid by Fractions of a Second

Lexington, OH - Coming down the final stretch of the 80th lap at the Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio Presented by The 2025 Civic Hybrid, Pato Ward was able to edge out Alex Palou by .4949 seconds to secure the victory.

O’Ward finished the 80 laps in a total time of 1:33:22.6191 as he averaged 116.071 miles per hour throughout the race.


Palou, who finished second, completed the race in a total time of 1:33.23.1184 and averaged 116.061 miles per hour throughout the race.

Also finishing on the podium at the Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio Presented by The 2025 Civic Hybrid was third place finisher Scott McLaughlin who finished the 80 laps in 1:33:38.7749.


O'Ward, Palou, and McLaughlin were also the only drivers to lead during the race.


In fact, Palou led for most of the race (53 laps), while O'Ward led for 24 laps and McLaughlin led for three laps.


All three of the drivers who were on the podium only made two pit stops for the race.


After winning the Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio Presented by The 2025 Hybrid Civic, O'Ward expressed his enthusiasm about his team getting the victory.


"All my 5 guys, they've been working so hard," said O'Ward.
"It just feels like we've had heartbreak after heartbreak after heartbreak and we've obviously had a tough battle trying to figure out this new tire this year."
"Yeah, it feels so good to give this to them. I know they're as happy as I am today, and we earned it. No one gave it to us. We had to earn it."

In addition to the Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio Presented by The 2025 Civic Hybrid on Sunday afternoon, Indycar fans at Mid-Ohio were treated to the Indy NXT Grand Prix at Mid-Ohio race on Sunday morning.


Winning the Grand Prix at Mid-Ohio was Caio Collet who won the race of 35 laps in a time of 44:26.3477.

Collet edged out second place finisher Louis Foster by a little more than six seconds.


Foster finished the race in 44:33.1538 for the the 35 laps.


Also making the podium and finishing as the third place finisher of the Grand Prix at Mid-Ohio was Jacob Abel who finished the race with a time of 44:39.4314.


After the Grand Prix at Mid-Ohio, Collet talked about winning the race.


"It feels pretty amazing," said Collet.
"I think since Friday, we've been really quick. Honestly, since my first lap, the car felt really, really good, and I knew we had a chance to do a good weekend."
"I think previous weekends we started a little bit behind, especially compared to him, and we were just playing catch-up, and I think it was the first weekend of the season that we started on top from Friday, and we just built it up, and I think we did a really good job together."

The IndyCar series will next race on July 13th and July 14th at the Iowa Speedway.
