Sullinger and Santiago Lead Kent State Golden Flashes to 73-60 Victory over BGSU - Will play Zips in MAC Championship Game on Saturday Night

The Kent State Golden Flashes defeated BGSU 73-60 to punch their ticket to the MAC Championship Game.



Leading the Flashes to victory were guards Jalen Sullinger and Giovanni Santiago who combined for 42 of the Flashes 70 points and were a combined 11-15 from beyond the arc.



This semifinal game was a close contest half way through the first half with game tied at 20-20 with 11:30 to go. 


However, Kent outscored the Falcons 14-8 to end the half as they took a 34-28 lead into half-time.


With the Flashes leading by 6 entering the second half, the Falcons closed to within three points, 45-42, with 12:44 left to go in the game.


However, over the next  two and half minutes the Flashes pushed the lead back out to 11 at 55-44 with 10:12 to go in the game. 


The Flashes then held on for a 73-60 victory over the Falcons, as the Flashes outscored BGSU 18-16 in the final ten minutes.


Ultimately, the story of the game was the Golden Flashes amazing three point shooting.  


The Flashes were 12-18 (66.7%) from beyond the arc throughought the contest.


For the game, the Flashes were led by Sullinger who had 22 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds, and a steal.



In addition Santiago added 20 points, 6 assists, 3 rebounds, and three steals. 


In the second MAC Semifinal of the night the Akron Zips defeated the Ohio University Bobcats, 65-62.


Kent will take on Akron for the MAC Championship and a chance to punch their ticket to the NCAA Tournament.
