PITTSBURGH, PA- The Linda Linda's, Rancid, and The Smashing Pumpkins were all openers that were touring with Green Day on their 'Saviours' tour. Green Day would also be playing their 1994 album 'Dookie' and their 2004 album 'American Idiot' in their entireties as it was the 30th and 20th anniversaries for each respectively. The Linda Linda's set lasted about 20 minutes, Rancid's about 30 minutes, and The Smashing Pumpkins set lasted for around an hour. The Smashing Pumpkins setlist mainly consisted of the greatest hits from either Siamese Dream or Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, but mainly from the latter. For example, the only songs that were heard off of Siamese Dream were Today, Disarm, and Cherub Rock. They played a lot more songs off of Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, such as 1979, Bullet With Butterfly Wings, Jellybelly, 'Tonight, Tonight,' and, the sets closing song, Zero. Billy Corgan still sounds timeless, as do the other core members of the band, James Iha, and Jimmy Chamberlin. 'The Pumpkins' also had Katie Cole for backing vocals in this tour who has been a staple in their tours since around 2016, along with Jack Bates on bass who has been touring with them since 2018. New for this tour was Kiki Wong on guitar who had won the position out of a 10,000 person audition in October of 2023. Outside of their two most popular albums, they played fan favorite songs, Ava Adore and The Everlasting Gaze. They would also play 'Sighommi' off of their newest album 'Aghori Mhori Mei'. A cover of U2's Zoo Station was also heard. The Smashing Pumpkins brought a lot of energy Sunday night, especially having to perform between Rancid and Green Day's set, so if you can catch them on the 'Saviours' tour, I would highly recommend it.
