Who Will Be the Browns Starting Quarterback Against Jacksonville? - Stefanski Noncommittal

Alan Kornspan

Cleveland Browns Head Coach Kevin Stefanski addressed the media yesterday in his daily press conference in Berea.

Almost immediately, Stefanski was asked who would be the starting quarterback against Jacksonville?

Did Stefanski immediately say that Flacco would be the starting quarterback against Jacksonville on Sunday?

No.

Here is what Stefanski told the media on Wednesday.

“We’ll see how it goes this week. Dorian (Thompson-Robinson) is still in the protocol, but he’s working his way through,” said Stefanski.
Yeah, we’ll make that decision at the appropriate time, but I want to see how this week goes.”

So, Browns fans will have to wait another day to find out who the Browns starting quarterback will be on Sunday.

In addition to being asked who would be the starting quarterback, Stefanski was also asked if he installed run pass options for Joe Flacco for the upcoming game and if Flacco would be considered a traditional drop back style quarterback.

Stefanski's response to whether he installed run pass options into the offense for Flacco:

“You’re going to have to see,” said Stefanski.

When discussing the style of quarterback he would consider Flacco, Stefanski responded that yes he would consider Flacco a traditional drop back style quarterback.

“Yes, in his instance. I just think you certainly have seen, and we’ve all seen this position go through different changes. I was just talking about Randall Cunningham yesterday actually, where he was ahead of his time. Just think about what he would be doing in this league. But it’s cyclical, maybe.
“But there are multiple ways to play this position. There are multiple ways to be impactful for your offense.
And regardless of who our quarterback is, you have to play through the strengths of your quarterback.”

So, should Flacco start at quarterback and should the Browns install run pass options into the offense for Flacco? We here at Believeland Media would love to hear your opinion?
