BAINBRIDGE OH- On Friday November 3rd we will be treated to a rematch as two of the top running backs in the great Buckeye State clash again. Fox 8 Friday Night Touchdown Player of the Year candidate Sean Patrick and the 10-1 Kenston Bombers host the 8-3 Villa Angela-St. Joseph Vikings and star tailback Bo Jackson in a DIII Region 9 Quarterfinal from Bomber Stadium. Earlier on in the season Kenston picked up a 49-27 victory over VASJ in the aforementioned Week 4 contest. It was the Sean Patrick show from kickoff, literally, to finish. (SEE BOTTOM FOR RECAPS OF BOTH TEAMS)
THE LAST TIME THEY MET: WEEK 4 September 8th - Kenston 49-27 VASJ
The Akron commit took the opening kickoff 76 yards to the house in an incredible start to his 300+ all purpose yard performance. Patrick totaled 5 touchdowns in the Bombers win. Junior QB Lucas Kaltenbach ran for one touchdown, and threw a touchdown to Tymir Cardona to cap off the Bomber scoring. Kaltenbach had also thrown 2 interceptions, an issue he's since remedied as Kaltenbach has been hitting his stride since Weeks 4 & 5 where he threw a pair of interceptions in both contests. 10 passing touchdowns (13 total TDs) and only a single interception his last 5 games (weeks 6-11). The junior QB seemed to have just delivered his best performance as a Bomber for Coach Jeff Grubich and Kenston. For the side of VASJ, Coach Jeff Rostsky watched Kylan Steuball total up 249 passing yards, tossing two touchdowns, one to Bo Jackson for a 67 yard touchdown and a 63 yarder to Brain Kortovich. Amani Powell and Jackson both added rushing touchdowns to round it out for the Vikings. Tymir Cardona picked off Steuball twice in the contest as Kenston found themselves a 22-point winner over VASJ. Along with the interceptions, Jeff Grubich's defense held the Viking backfield to a meager 96 yards. Now that you're excited for the rematch, let's dive into what the respective teams did a week ago.
