Ricky Rubio is back in the CLE!

The 31-year-old resigned with the Cavs on a three-year, $18 deal, according to multiple sources. Rubio, who was a part of the trade package the Cavs used to acquire Caris LeVert from the Indiana Pacers during February’s trade deadline, never played a game for Indiana after tearing his ACL in late December. He returns to Cleveland to back up Darius Garland. In 34 games for the Cavs last season, he averaged 13 points, four rebounds and seven assists a contest. He scored a career high 37 points vs the Knicks on November 7th, 2021.

While Rubio may not be ready to start the season, he proved to be a vital part of the teams’ success in the 2021-2022 season. The Cavs scored a record of 20-14 in games Rubio played vs 24-24 without the former first-round selection. Rubio is a locker room leader, and somebody the Cavs front office wanted to come to terms with as soon as they were able to do so.

The team may not be done making moves. Reports say Rubio could be involved in a sign-and-trade that would ship one of Cedi Osman or Dylan Windler to Indiana, so the Cavs could keep their mid-level exception.
